Movemama started when I was pregnant with my first baby and found myself struggling in my breastfeeding journey. To add "insult to injury" so to speak, I also found myself struggling to find clothing that made nursing easy in my existing wardrobe.
When I went to shop everything I found felt like an "afterthought." Just an obligation by a big retailer to have nursing clothes but it all seemed to be thrown out there without any intention or thought. Nothing had pockets. Everything was made out of crappy, cheap material, or was poorly designed and looked too dang much like nursing clothes. The flaps - the clips - the layers... It just didn't feel like ME.
Sure... I wanted something that would make nursing easier - but I definitely didn't want to buy ugly clothing and then only wear it for a few months... that felt like a waste.
Invisible zippers and hidden nursing access felt like the answer. I wanted pieces that the average person on the street couldn't "pick out" as nursing clothes and I wanted pieces that I could keep wearing after breastfeeding without feeling silly.
Movemama truly started as a way to bring my own "wish list" of pieces to life. Clothing that would transition with me from maternity to postpartum (and back again and back again, ha!) I have loved offering nursing tops, swimwear and dresses to women that will last, offer comfort and ease, and ultimately be great a investment because they last through every stage of motherhood.
